Privacy
This page explains what the BeSciWorks website collects when you visit, and what it does not.
Effective
Who is responsible
David Mills is the person in charge of protecting personal information for BeSciWorks. Write to him at [email protected] with any question about this policy or your information.
We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for visitors in Quebec, Quebec's Law 25.
Google Analytics needs your yes
When you first visit, a small card asks whether we can count your visit with Google Analytics. Nothing from Google loads until you choose yes.
If you say yes, Google Analytics sets cookies and records the pages you view, how you arrived, your browser and device type, and your approximate location from your IP address. We use it only to see which pages people read.
If you say no, nothing from Google loads and the site works the same. You can change your answer at any time with the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page; saying no then removes the Google Analytics cookies.
Google Analytics keeps the detailed record of visits for 2 months, and anything tied to a returning visitor for 14 months after their last visit, then deletes it.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views on every visit. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites and does not collect personal data.
Hosting
Cloudflare hosts this site. Like any web host, its servers handle your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks.
Contacting us
The site has no forms. If you email us through a link on the site, your message and email address reach us like any other email, and we use them only to reply.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information. The only outside services involved are the two named on this page.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email David Mills at [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page.
